Well, it’s hard to believe it has been 2 1/2 months since I last posted anything on this site. But then again, it’s not that hard. For those of you who don’t keep abreast of my personal happenings, I’ve been in a major life transformation the past few months. Back in July I moved from Austin, TX to Durango, CO to take a break from things and possibly give my marriage a little breathing room, at the request of the Mrs. The break ended up being permanent and I liked Durango so much that I decided to make it my new home.
Durango is a typical mountain town-it’s hard to find work, but never that hard to find a lot of play. Early on, things were definitely tipped towards the play side, but as the end of 2011 approached I had a lot of financial obligations to take care of and my focus shifted to work. Since the beginning of November work has been my primary task-completing what little work I did have and trying to find more work. Before I knew it, I was just swamped in work. I always made a little time to play, but I made absolutely no time for this website. Furthermore, I was growing away from my Paleo calling. I probably dipped down to 70/30 Paleo/SAD and stopped working out (aside from my play time outside) I was feeling deflated that this site wasn’t doing so well. The Paleo scene has sprung up so fast that there are now 1000’s of Paleo/primal blogs out there and due to my lack of time and enthusiasm my site was now low mid pack, if even that.
Things are settling down a bit nearing February and I felt bad about not updating the site. I’m getting back to my Paleo roots- 90/10 diet, working out/playing more, and getting more sleep. Despite my negative view towards the site, several of you have sent me comments and messages saying how helpful you have found Paleo Diet and Living and I have been inspired to continue to grow it and hopefully bring fresh insight to the Paleosphere. I’ve realized this project is something I will never really make money on (which if you are a website owner you know is a primary goal), but I’ve also realized that I don’t care about that anymore. From a business standpoint, this is yet another failure for me, but from a personal viewpoint, it is a great accomplishment.
So, keep an eye out for some new posts. If you have any post ideas or questions, please send them to me! I hope to continue to inspire and assist you in your paleo journey!
Best wishes,
Caveman

It’s only failure if you quit.
I just came across this site and am working my way through it. I’ve been doing the slow carb routine and have been looking into the paleo lifestyle the past few months (I’m a little behind I guess). But I hope things have turned around for you. You’ve obviously put a lot of effort into this and you should be proud. Hang in there.
I’ve researched many Paleo sites over the past several months and am continually drawn back to yours. I’ve always felt that if you do in life what you are most passionate about, you will accomplish great things. When you pour your heart and soul into something, people see that and are naturally drawn to it. And when the time is right, the money will come. Maybe not in the way you have envisioned, but the money will come. Good luck and keep posting!!
Hey Caveman hang in there – you can be rich in areas other than money. I am new to the Paleo way and came across your site – Well I for one am absolutely glad you have it. It has been a wealth of information from a person with my same sense of wealth – Broke! I LOVE your point of view and approach. PLEASE keep it rolling. Can’t wait to try the meatza!
